Chilean salmon, mussel and fishmeal supplier Pesquera Camanchaca on Thursday suspended all mussel production and processing at its Rauco plant in Chiloé, the result of logistics complications from the coronavirus disruptions.

The company said transportation routes, access to and from the island and cold storage challenges "make it impossible" to continue to harvest and process mussels at its subsidiary, Camanchaca Cultivos Sur.

The company will suspend operations for 15 days, after which it will assess whether or not the coronavirus situation allows it to continue normally.
