The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), major third-party certification groups for the fish farming sector, defended their certified products following a new rating from Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program that moved some Chilean rainbow trout farmed to the group's red, "Avoid," list.

In an updated ranking released Monday, Seafood Watch moved rainbow trout farmed in netpens in Chile's Los Lagos, Magallanes and Aysen regions from its yellow "Good alternative" ranking to its red list.
