As the Alaska salmon industry grapples to get past what has been described as an "abysmal year" in the face of low harvests and prices, attendees at the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute's (ASMI) virtual conference laid out priorities in the battle for market share against farmed fish.

While this year's unprecedented set of circumstances would have tested leaders in any sector, Alaska -- with its remote locations and limited seasons -- faced some of the industry's most challenging obstacles, not all of them COVID-19 related.
