Scottish salmon industry sea lice rates increased slightly in 2019 after dipping to a seven-year low a year earlier, the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation (SSPO) said Friday.
Sea lice averages for 2019 were 0.54 adult female lice per salmon, up from 0.46 in 2018.
The Scottish salmon sector has adopted a ‘"prevention over cure" sea lice management strategy, increasingly moving towards the deployment of cleaner (lump) fish, as well as mechanical treatments.
