Amidst the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on the aquaculture industry, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has granted Scottish finfish aquaculture producers a temporary regulatory flexibility agreement.

The agreement was welcomed by Anne Anderson, Scottish Salmon Producers Organization (SSPO) Sustainability Director, who said the flexibility around issues in these "exceptional circumstances" would be beneficial for the sector.

Among the regular requirements given flexibility are environmental monitoring protocols, shortened fallow periods or extended periods of fish at sea, and breaches to biomass limits.
