Norwegian salmon farmer SalMar harvested 56,300 metric tons of salmon in the fourth quarter of 2020, a 30 percent year-on-year increase, according to a trading update from the company.

SalMar's central Norway operations led the increase, harvesting a massive 66 percent more fish at 34,600 metric tons. Its northern Norway farms saw an 8 percent fall in harvest volume to 17,500. Iceland's harvests rose 17 percent to 4,200 metric tons.

The company harvested a total of182,000 metric tons for the full year.
