Norwegian salmon farming giant SalMar announced Monday it will be laying off 851 employees at its processing processing facilities in Froya and Senja in Norway.

"This is mainly because the government's proposal for a new salmon tax has destroyed the market for long-term fixed price contracts," the group said in a press release.

The redundancies will apply to the period from Jan.
