In the new year, Chilean lawmakers will report their findings from an investigation into an alarming increase in the number of robberies plaguing the country's salmon farming industry.
Organized crime is costing the Chilean salmon industry as much as $80 million (€75 million) a year, according to the trade association SalmonChile.
With losses of salmon running in the thousands of metric tons in recent years, most of that crime goes unreported.
