Norwegian salmon producer SinkabergHansen halted a salmon shipment bound for the Chinese market after discovering traces of listeria in the product.

The bacteria was detected in a batch of whole fish on Nov. 15 the company said in a note to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority obtained by IntraFish.

The company has so far not responded to requests for comment.

SinkabergHansen, one of Norway's largest privately owned salmon companies, produces salmon in Trondelag and Nordland.
