Chilean salmon is fighting a market share battle in China with Norwegian fish, driving down prices and reinforcing the view that the South American nation's industry faces some very tough times ahead.

"It will be a super difficult year; very complicated," Arturo Clement, president of SalmonChile said in an in-house interview posted on the organization's website.

"In the United States, for example, although the entire restaurant sector went to zero supermarkets have continued to operate with a very interesting dynamic, which has allowed us to continue exporting to that country," Clement said.
