Atlantic Sapphire's board member Runar Vatne on Monday acquired 200,000 shares in the troubled land-based salmon producer through his wholly-owned company Vatne Equity.

The shares were priced at an average of NOK 43.50 per share. Following the transaction, Vatne Equity holds 5,000,000 shares in the company, corresponding to 5.5 percent of the outstanding shares.

Last week, Vatne acquired 247,222 shares worth approximately NOK8.5 million (€873,767/$1 million).

Earlier in October, Atlantic Sapphire CEO Johan Andreassen and interim Chief Operating Officer (COO) Bjorn-Vegard Lovik acquired NOK 3.4 million ($400,000/€350,000) worth of shares to bolster investor confidence in the company they co-founded.

A string of disasters pulled Andreassen and his family's shareholdings down -- this year alone slicing NOK 900 million (€91.4 million/$105.7 million) off his holdings, according to calculations by IntraFish sister publication DN.
