Norwegian salmon prices for delivery next week moved up sharply on Friday with market sources citing reduced availability of fish for processing and increasing demand as Christmas approaches.

"We are talking plus NOK 10-20 (€0.95-€1.90/$0.98-$1.98) from what we bought for last Friday. It's completely silly. We'll see how long it lasts," one industry source told IntraFish.

"It will be difficult to do business and process fish. It remains to be seen whether the customers will pay this."

A farmer in northern Norway cited prices between NOK 74-82 (€7.04-€7.80/$7.31-$8.10)
