Nordic Aquafarms, the Norway-based group planning a large-scale land-based salmon farming project in Maine, announced Monday it received the last permit necessary to proceed with the construction of its 33,000 metric-ton project.

The recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) project, planned for Belfast Maine, is ready now to proceed with final engineering and construction plans, according to the company, now that it has obtained its Army Corps of Engineers permit.

All other state and local permits have been obtained in 2020, the company said.
