Members of Chile's newly formed Chile Salmon Council trade group fear the discovery of COVID-19 on a chopping board use to cut salmon in a Beijing seafood wholesale market "may cause enormous damage to consumption and to the image of the country's salmon farming industry."

They outlined these concerns in their first meeting with Chile's Agriculture Minister Antonio Walker on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Sady Delgado, CEO of AquaChile; Fernando Villarroel, CEO of Mowi; Steven Rafferty, CEO of Cermaq; and Pablo Baraona, president of Salmones Aysen, These companies represent a third of global salmon production.
