Mowi Scotland's has confirmed 48,834 salmon escaped from its site at North Carradale as a result of Storm Ellen, which battered the UK coast with high winds and strong tides.

The salmon farm housing 10 circular netpens with a total of 550,000 salmon, each weighing 4.2 kilograms on average shifted position on Aug. 20 after seabed anchors were dislodged.

By Aug. 25, six of the ten pens were found to be structurally sound with fish in good condition and are now secured back in their original position.
