A British Columbia value-added salmon processing plant operated by Mowi is the latest operation to face potential layoffs from the Discovery Islands decision, and the industry is highlighting the potential impact with a new campaign.

The facility in Surrey, Canada, outside Vancouver, was opened just over three years ago -- a part of the company's strategy to dramatically expand its value-added operations.

The facility has the capacity to produce 12,000 metric tons of finished products, the company said at the time it was opened, and focuses on skinpack portions and other items for customers in Western Canada and the United States.
