The decision earlier this year to deny planning permission for two Organic Sea Harvest (OSH) fish farm sites in Skye, Scotland has had a far-reaching ripple effect throughout the Scottish Highlands, causing significant job losses at two major companies in the region.

The refusal of planning permission for a Balmacqueen site in January -- which would have created nine jobs at the salmon farmer -- has directly resulted in the loss of 20 jobs at Scottish company Gael Force Group, which had been due to supply equipment for the farm.
