French salmon and trout producer AMP Saumon de France has unveiled plans to pioneer offshore salmon farming off the northern coast of France after losing around 100,000 fish to high water temperatures this summer.
Around three-quarters of the company's salmon at its Cherbourg production site, weighing an average 500-600 grams and scheduled for harvesting next year, were lost as water temperatures reached above 21 degrees Celsius this summer.
