Norway-based salmon farmer Kvaroy Arctic felt it had no choice but embrace the nascent land-based salmon farming segment, a move that made the small family-owned company the first to be invested in both conventional and land-based production.

"There is no competition between sea-based and land-based salmon, we have to think the best possible way to feed as many people as possible in a sustainable way," Kvaroy CEO Alf-Goran Knutsen said in a live webcast interview.
