Norwegian land-based salmon farmer Salmon Evolution has entered into a "green" power supply agreement with Norwegian energy provider Statkraft.

Statkraft is fully owned by the Norwegian government and is Norway's largest supplier of electricity to the power intensive industry.

Through the agreement, Salmon Evolution will be guaranteed 100 percent renewable energy for its land-based salmon farming facility at Indre Haroy, where farming operations are expected to begin in March of 2022.

The electricity will be sourced from Statkraft's hydropower plant at Grytten in Rauma municipality, about 60 kilometers from the Salmon Evolution site.
