A suspected outbreak of infectious salmon anemia (ISA) is being monitored in Heim municipality, Trondelag, in central Norway.

Norway-based salmon groups SalMar and Norsk Sjomat farm salmon at the site, according to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.

SalMar notified the Food Safety Authority July 5 of findings compatible with suspicion of ISA after analysis of samples from fish.

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority is now planning an inspection of the plant to take follow-up samples that will be sent to the Veterinary Institute.
