A member of Norway's Parliament, the Storting, Geir Jorgensen, considers Leroy Seafood Group's redundancy statement a political move.

Leroy announced Wednesday that it had sent layoff notices to 339 employees at four plants.

"It will be interesting to see what the company earned in the third quarter, but I don't think there are any reasons for Leroy to push its people out," Jorgensen, who is a member of a far Left party, said.

"There are several threats in the ongoing campaign against the tax.
