A suspected outbreak of infectious salmon anemia (ISA) has been confirmed in Alver municipality in the Vestland region of western Norway.

Norway-based salmon producer Lingalaks, Landoy Fiskeoppdrett, Blom Fiskeoppdrett and Tombre Fiskeanlegg farm salmon at the site, according to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority was notified on Aug. 23 of findings compatible with suspicion of ISA, and the suspicion was confirmed on Sept. 13.

The location is already in a monitoring zone for ISA and has been emptied of fish.
