In December, Icelandic salmon farming group Ice Fish Farm took over Laxar, creating one single fish farming group in the eastern part of the island nation.

With the merger, and the increasingly overlapping ownership in the sector, the natural question becomes: who's next?

Just two other companies operate in Iceland: Icelandic Salmon, which is 50.2 percent owned by Norwegian salmon farming giant Salmar; and Arctic Fish, a subsidiary of Norway Royal Salmon (which is in turn owned by aquaculture conglomerate NTS).
