Grieg Seafood is forecasting a 42 percent increase in salmon production this year to 20,000 metric tons at its British Columbia operations, helped by a tightening of its algae monitoring and mitigation strategy.

The Norway-based salmon producer expects to get the ball rolling in the first quarter of this year with production guidance put at 2,100 metric tons versus 1,600 metric tons in the same quarter of 2019.

Production is expected to pick up pace during the year with another 17,900 metric tons predicted to be spread across the following three quarters.
