Circle Seafoods, a company aiming to shift away from Alaska's traditional salmon processing supply chain, says it is headed into the construction phase of its new floating salmon processor.
The company has secured more than $15 million (€14 million) in funding from private sources to construct the floating freezer barge, Charlie Campbell, co-founder of Circle Seafoods, confirmed with IntraFish.
"We’re off to the races," Campbell said, adding the company plans to construct the project in Aberdeen, Washington.
"Our goal is to be ready by 2024," he added of whether the barge will be ready for next year's salmon season.
