Norway-based salmon farming company Grieg Seafood is moving forward with the expansion of its British Columbia operations, amid a governmental push to remove nearby netpen farming in the province in the next few years.

The Tlowitsis First Nation and the Council of Marine Carriers reached an agreement to reposition the Cutter Cove Towboat Reserve to accommodate the salmon farm proposed for the area, the Campbell River Mirror reported earlier this week.

The Tlowitsis Nation and Grieg Seafood BC submitted a joint application on June 24 to the province's regulators for an additional salmon farm in the Tlowitsis Nation’s traditional territory of Clio Channel.
