Chilean producers selling salmon into the US market are waiting for inclement weather to clear for a pick up in salmon sales and prices at a moment when the onset of Lent traditionally boosts the market.

Two weeks of heavy snow that has even reached the normally warm state of Texas have complicated the lives of those selling fresh fish, amid power outages that have kept some people at home eating canned food.

In some cases this has led to cancelled orders, supermarket closures and distributors being prevented from putting products on shelves, BluGlacier CEO Sebastian Goycoolea told IntraFish.
