Norwegian salmon prices moved above the NOK 50 level (€4.89/$5.94) per kilogram for fish delivered next week, with cold weather limiting growth and keeping fish off the market, industry members told IntraFish.

An executive with a salmon farming company called the upward pressure "a supply-driven upswing," with a longer-than-normal stretch of cold weather limiting availability of popular sizes.

"We see higher prices ahead," he said.

With larger fish attracting a slightly lower price per kilo in Europe, one exporter agreed there is a raw material shortage.
