Chilean salmon producers have set an ambitious target of recovering the Chinese market completely this year or at least by the end of the first quarter of 2021.

Producers will spend $200,000 (€169,582) on a digital marketing campaign relying on 60 social media influencers to win back the Chinese market lost amid the coronavirus pandemic.

More details of the campaign first reported by IntraFish are emerging.

Entitled "Salmon from Chile, Freshness and Flavor from the Antartic", it is backed by trade body SalmonChile alongside its member salmon companies and will be staged via influential social media platforms Tik Tok, Kuaishou and Yizhibo.
