Chilean salmon exporters experienced mixed fortunes in their three main markets -- the United States, Brazil and Japan -- in the second quarter, according to Chile Salmon Council data.

Shipments to the United States slipped 6 percent from a year earlier to 61,008 metric tons.

After D-trim FOB Miami farmed salmon prices fell to around $5 (€4.49) per pound in June, the break-even point for many producers, there is more optimism in the US market.
