Chilean salmon industry officials will take part in talks with Chinese customs authorities on Thursday aimed at restoring their products to retailers' shelves and diners' plates after the discovery last Friday of COVID-19 on the chopping board of a seller of imported salmon at Beijing's main wholesale seafood market.

When news of the development broke retailers moved quickly to remove imported salmon from their shelves.

The discovery at the Beijing market left Chilean salmon producers fretting over the outcome of intensive testing of their products at ports across China, while shipments to the capital city Beijing have been halted.
