Chilean salmon producer Salmones Camanchaca says it is diversifying its coho salmon exports as part of a plan to reduce exposure to the Japanese market.

In 2020, Japan and South Korea accounted for 56 percent of Camanchaca's coho sales but that figure has now shrunk to 13 percent.

The company will increasingly target the United States and Mexican markets, putting a greater emphasis on sales of filets as part of its diversification strategy.

Sales to Mexico and Latin America have increased nearly three-fold over the past two years.
