Chilean salmon producer Ventisqueros is blaming a faulty electrical circuit in a generator for causing a fire in a pontoon housing its employees at the Quintupeu production site on Sunday.
The company said its personnel acted diligently in accordance with emergency procedures, carrying out an evacuation of the pontoon during the early hours with no one suffering any injuries.
The cause of the electrical problem at the site in the southern Los Lagos region remains under investigation.
