Around 100 metric tons of salmon have died at Icelandic salmon farmer Arnarlax's site in Arnarfjordur due to "difficult conditions," according to the National Food Authority, reported Stundin.

The mortalities are fish ranging in size between 6 to 9 kilos.

Gisla Jonsson, head of fish diseases at the National Food Authority, said there has been good cooperation between the agency and the company.

Jonsson said the Food Agency's communication with the company increased considerably after new CEO Bjorn Hembre took over at Arnarlax.
