Land-based Andfjord Salmon's first fish have reached an average weight of 1 kilogram two months ahead of schedule.

The company is now considering moving the harvest forward.

On June 25, Andfjord released approximately 200,000 smolt at an average weight of 120 grams into the company's first land-based pool at Kvalnes, Norway. The fish were due to hit 1 kilogram at the end of December, but strong biological performance has accelerated growth.

The survival rate stands at 98.9 percent.

"We are very pleased to see that we have been able to provide our salmon with excellent biological conditions," said Andfjord CEO Martin Rasmussen.
