The Chile Salmon Council trade body published new guidelines aimed at protecting divers working at salmon farms owned by member companies AquaChile, Cermaq, Mowi and Salmones Aysen.
It follows a spate of fatal accidents at salmon farms in Chile since the beginning of 2020.
Individual companies are charged with implementing the protocols, which will be inspected, monitored and supported by Chile Salmon Council officials.
New measures will include the formation of crews, the deployment of more technology and recommendations in case of unforeseen events underwater.
