Norwegian salmon prices fell sharply during Friday trading from a week earlier with fewer contracts being signed amid uncertainty surrounding the proposed production tax on Norwegian salmon producers.
Market sources also blame an overly optimistic spot market.
Prices across the main industrial sizes run to NOK 73-79 (€6.81-€7.37/$7.36-$7.97)/kg, down from NOK 88-100 (€8.21-€9.32/$8.87-$10.08)/kg last week.
Larger fish weighing more than 6 kg have slid to NOK 80-85 (€7.46-€7.92/$8.06-$8.56)/kg
