This year's wild salmon harvest in Russia is historic.
The catch of 601,500 metric tons through Oct. 10 is second only to the record 678,000 metric tons caught in 2018.
This year catch, which could rise slightly after final figures are tabulated, exceeds last year's harvest by 2.2 times and is 13 percent more than in 2021.
