Atlantic Sapphire has described the first three months of 2021 as a "lost quarter" for biomass gain in its land-based salmon mega farm in Miami after a devastating fish die-off last month, plus several smaller fish losses.

The company ended the quarter 300 metric tons down in terms of net biomass gain in its US facility, after losing 500 metric tons of fish at its Miami land-based salmon farm March 23, which it blamed on a "weakness" in the recirculating aquaculture system (RAS).
