In order to meet its growth aspirations, Chilean salmon farmer Salmones Austral is changing tack and looking to significantly expand its coho business, Christian Samsing, the company's vice president, told IntraFish.

Salmones Austral, which was formed in 2013 after the merger of Trusal and Pacific Star, has 62 salmon farming concessions spread between the regions of Maule, Biobio, La Araucania, Los Lagos, Aysen, and Magallanes, as well as two processing plants in Chiloe and Puerto Montt.
