On Oct. 10, Norwegian pelagics company Pelagia started test production for its new factory, which the company says is the first in the world to enable whole mackerel to be processed for both human consumption and animal food.

Mackerel cuts are sent from the automated fillet line at Pelagia's factory in Selje, just 35 kilometers away, and turned into meal and oil. The automated pilot line allows for high-quality material, which is necessary as the standards for products made for human consumption are equally high.
