Norwegian seafood giant Leroy is running tests of the machinery at its new production plant in Hitra, Norway, which will process around 70,000 metric tons of salmon a year and is thought to be the world's most automated salmon processing operation.

Paal Kleven, production manager at Leroy Midt, said at the Automation in the Aquaculture Industry conference held last week in Hitra that the company expects a final certificate to operate the plant in the fall.
