The US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) purchases of Alaska pollock have reached a record 13.8 million pounds for the fiscal year to date, the Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) said.

This includes bids due May 13 for more than 2 million pounds.

USDA oversees the purchase of seafood used in school lunch programs, as well as food banks and food assistance.
