The UK’s Department of Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (Defra) is urging seafood businesses to sign up for "Brexit ready" events.
Workshop and training sessions will run across England in September and October to ensure seafood traders and processors are prepared to leave the European Union.
The events will cover practical sessions on a range of topics, including catch certificates, food labeling requirements and customs procedures.
“On 31st of October we will leave the EU, becoming an independent coastal state. For the first time in over four decades, we will be able to decide who can fish in our waters and on what terms,” said George Eustice, UK fisheries minister.
In the event of a no-deal Brexit on Oct. 31, the United Kingdom will become a “third country” and businesses will need to comply with new rules and regulations for trading.
