There is something unique about California-based supplier Santa Monica Seafood's most recent acquisition of the Seattle Fish Company of New Mexico (SFNM): It's the first company that will be operating as a true standalone division under Santa Monica.

"That will be different for us, but it's a good thing," Santa Monica's president and CEO Roger O'Brien, told IntraFish.

"We don't have to go through an integration process. They're already profitable and doing well. There are things we can bring to the table, but we don't need to bring our people in and change logistics schedules and all.
