Peter Pan Seafoods' Port Moller seafood processing plant has been "devastated" by a fire that burned Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, reports Alaska public radio site KDLG.

Peter Pan said on its website that no employees sustained injuries so far in the remote salmon processing plant, but that "damage from the fire is extensive enough to halt operations for the remainder of the 2017 season."

"The fire started kind of in the production end of things, kind of the freezing warehouse at Peter Pan Seafoods last night and consumed most of the production facilities that we can tell," Bob Murphy, area management biologist at ADF&G, based in Port Moller, told KDLG.
