The outlook for shrimp imports into the United States for the second half of this year remains uncertain, amid conflicting reports about the extent to which the impact of disease and inclement weather is affecting production, particularly in India.

"Markets could be said to be steady to firm. Prices seem to be stabilizing," said one US importer of Indian shrimp, adding that prices have reset in the past two months after an extended period of deflation.

With India's first shrimp harvest of the year nearing its end, supplies are expected to remain low for the coming weeks.
