US-based processor Ocean Beauty Seafoods has permanently closed its cannery in Petersburg, Alaska, citing its facilities at Excursion Inlet, Cordova and Kodiak provide it with adequate canning capacity to meet customer demand.
KTOO reports Ocean Beauty CEO Mark Palmer stated in a letter Aug. 2 the company has a multi-year agreement with a floating processor vessel Ocean Fresh that allows it to be more flexible working in the ups and downs of Alaska's pink salmon season.
