Mowi will replace its Kritsen processing factory in Landivisiau, France, with a "highly automated and modern" smokehouse, following the fire that devastated it in July last year.

The investment, expected to cost in the region of €23 million ($25.7 million), will also enable the company to make France the next market for its Mowi brand after a strong launch in Poland.

"France is one of the biggest salmon markets globally and the board's decision ensures the continuation of Kritsen's and Mowi's long tradition of producing high-quality smoked products in the country," said the company in a statement on the Norwegian Stock Exchange.
